Position Announcement
The Nebraska Statewide Workforce & Educational Reporting System (NSWERS) at the University of Nebraska is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of back-end Applications Developer to assist in the development initiatives for the NSWERS organization.

The back-end developer will work closely with the Assistant Director for IT applications to plan, develop, and manage web application back ends to support the goals and objectives of the organization. This includes ensuring effective and secure application operations, support and maintenance of legacy applications, development of new technical solutions, and successful application integration with NSWERS partner organizations.

NSWERS Profile
The Nebraska P-20W data initiative, known as NSWERS, is a partnership of the Nebraska prekindergarten, elementary, secondary, and postsecondary educational systems to use data and information to further evidence-based policy and practices. The NSWERS partners also work in affiliation with the Nebraska Department of Labor to examine the intersection of education and the workforce with the goal of providing research-based insight to meet Nebraska’s current and future workforce needs. Qualifications
Applicants who have knowledge, skills, and work experience to meet the criteria for senior back-end web developer will be appointed at that level.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of progressive experience developing application program interface (API) based Azure-deployed back-end software applications. Demonstrated competency with .NET Core Framework, LINQ, Entity Framework, and both unit and functional testing using Visual Studio. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Senior Qualifications:
Six (6) years of experience, the ability to utilize multiple application development resources for back-end application development.
Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience in the education K-12 and postsecondary industry;
  • Experience utilizing IT security standards and requirements;
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices;
  • Experience with Agile methodology and user story creation;
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL);
  • Experience with Swagger and/or OpenAPI documentation
The ideal candidate is an agile, self-starter comfortable with collaboration with internal and external resources and/or project teams; exhibits exceptional verbal, writing, editing and proofreading skills; an energetic, creative problem solver who can work independently; a resilient learner who is able to develop relationships with the NSWER’s stakeholders; a track record of timely completion of projects and the ability to responsibly manage competing priorities.
